About the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarship (OCSI), UK 2023


The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarship (OCSI), UK 2023 is for Indian students who want to study undergraduate, second undergraduate, postgraduate, or research courses in the US or UK. This scholarship offers up to INR 4,00,000 and other benefits to selected students who have secured admission to the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge for the academic year 2023-24. The OCSI is a not-for-profit alumni organization.


Eligibility


To be eligible for the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarship (OCSI), UK 2023, the applicant must:


  • Be a resident of India

  • Be under 30 years of age as of 1 September of the year of application

  • Hold a graduate degree from an Indian university if applying for a second undergraduate or postgraduate course, or be a school student in an Indian institution if applying for an undergraduate course

  • Have secured admission for a full-time course at the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford

  • Intend to pursue a research leading to a Ph.D. degree, a one-year post-graduate course, a taught and research-based master's program, a second bachelor's degree, or a bachelor's degree program

  • Be admitted to the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford through the University's normal academic procedures. (OCSI cannot admit students or assist in this process)

  • Selected students will receive up to INR 4,00,000 and other benefits.


Note - The applicants who are expected to graduate in the year of the awards are also eligible to apply

Benefits of Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarship (OCSI), UK 2023


The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India is giving out scholarships for students who want to study at the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge during the 2023-24 academic year. There are different scholarships available, each with a different amount of money.


The OCSI K.K. Luthra Memorial Scholarship can be used at either the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford and is worth INR 2,50,000.


The OCSI Anita Banerji Memorial Scholarship can also be used at either the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford and is worth INR 2,00,000.


The OCSI Nirmal Luthra Memorial Scholarship is only for the University of Cambridge and is worth INR 4,00,000.

The Emmanuel College Cambridge (India) Scholarship is worth INR 2,00,000 and is only for students who will attend Emmanuel College, Cambridge. This scholarship was donated by Nikhil Sawhney and Sumant Dhamija.


Finally, there is one scholarship worth INR 1,00,000 that is only for students who will attend St. Hilda's College, Oxford. This scholarship was donated by Ritika Dhamija.


Please note that there may be additional grants available later in the year, and eligible candidates will be considered for those grants as well.

How to Apply Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarship (OCSI), UK 2023


To apply for the scholarship, eligible candidates need to follow these steps:


  • Click the "Apply Now" button.


  • Register by filling in the required details. If you have already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email Id.

  • Click on "Apply for Scholarship" at the top of the dashboard.

  • If you have not yet registered, click on "If not already registered, please click here" to register. If you have already registered, log in using valid credentials.

  • Fill in all the required details, upload necessary documents, and submit your application.


Important Dates


  • Applications Starting Date - 1st March 2023

  • Application Submission Deadline - 15th May 2023

  • Shortlisting of Candidates for Interview - Mid-June 2023

  • Interviews - Mid-July 2023

  • Announcement of Scholarship Awards -  31st July 2023


Selection Criteria


The scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria - 


  • Candidate’s academic excellence

  • A good fit between the Scholar and the University

  • Evidence of leadership potential

  • Commitment to improving the lives of others, particularly in India


The candidates will be evaluated candidates based on three broad dimensions, namely -

 

Soft skills include presentation skills, clarity of thought and presentation, demeanour, and confidence.


Hard skills - The following criteria will be evaluated:



  • A unique proposition in the field of study;

  • Impact on society in general;

  • Likely impact on India;

  • Consistent academic performance; and

  • Extracurriculars


Financial means - 


  • The candidates will, on request, be required to provide details of resources available to them with supporting documents.

  • The shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide details of the means and financial resources available to them. While means is not the overriding criteria, it will be given due deference while awarding any scholarship.

The scholarships are given based on a candidate's good academic record, leadership potential, commitment to helping others, and compatibility with the university. Those who already have full support for their studies should not apply. If a scholar receives support after being selected, they must let the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India know, so that the scholarship can be given to another deserving candidate. OCSI scholars will use their education to become leaders in their field and give back to society in India. Scholars are expected to come back to India after completing their studies at Cambridge or Oxford.
